Our Mission
As is frequently acknowledged by the media, government officials, legal opinions, and thought leaders, an open and transparent government is essential to the functioning of the American democracy. The American public deserves to know what is occurring in the day-to-day discussions and decision-making processes that result in government actions. We encourage all voters who are eligible to exercise their right to vote, and if they are permitted to vote by mail to consider doing so. Voter turnout is so important in securing leaders who are accountable.
An educated, fully informed public will best “secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity,” as the Preamble to the Constitution states. Further shining light on the inner working of the federal government promotes accountability of elected, appointed, and employed government officials to the people they serve. It tends to curb corruption and promote integrity among government officials.
